A large portion of our store and our products is dedicated to model airplanes. Not so much the hobby airplanes like Remote control or model kits, though we carry some model kits but the replica or collectible kind.
The smaller scale 1/400 or 1/500 are normally made of diecast metal and offer a collector the ability to have a large range of planes. This scale also allows the planes to be displayed in a model airport. While these planes at times are smaller than hot wheels cars they can be quite expensive. Many are produced in limit quantities and are highly detailed replicas. The models also reproduce the liveries of most of the major airlines in the world and occasionally special liveries are reproduced such as the Southwest Shamu livery or the Fedex Panda Express Livery. We carry the major brands in this scale including Herpa Wings, Gemini Jets and Dragon Wings
The larger scale is 1/200, 1/150 or 1/100 are normally made of plastic and are packaged where the wings and tail have to be assembled to the planes fuselage. This scale is larger and ideal for models to be displayed on your desk in your office or at travel agency. Major brands we carry for these include Herpa, Gemini Jets, Skymarks and Hogan
Herpa Wings produces model aircraft in scales of 1/200, 1/400, 1/500, 1/600 and 1/1000 they only started the product line in 1992. In additional to model planes Herpa publishes WingsWorld 6 times a year. There is also a Herpa Wings Club. Herpa also produces the SCENIX series, which includes model diorama airports and airport accessories.
