Postage Stamp USAF CIA MQ1 Predator UAV Drone 1/87 Scale Diecast Model with Stand
The RQ-1 Predator was the primary remotely piloted aircraft (RPA) or unmammed aerial vehicle (UAV) used for long-endurance, medium-altitude air reconnaissance and forward observation roles and after modification and upgrade to carry and fire two AGM-114 Hellfire missiles it was re-designated as MQ-1 Predator adding interdiction role for offensive operations by the USAF and the CIA in Bosnia, Yugoslavia, Somalia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Libya and Syria.
The aircraft enter service in 1995, a year after its first flight. It is equipped with the AN/AAS-52 Multi-spectral Targeting System, a color nose camera (generally used by the pilot for flight control), a variable aperture day-TV camera, surveillance imagery from synthetic aperture radar (to see through smoke and clouds), and a forward-looking infrared system (FLIR). The images obtained can be distributed in real-time, both to the front line soldier and to the operational commander, or worldwide in real-time via satellite communication links.
This Die-cast metal model comes in 1:87 scale with stand and is approximately 3 3/4 inches long with 6 3/4 inch wingspan.
