The GM New Look bus was a municipal transit bus introduced in 1958 by the Truck & Coach Division of General Motors to replace the company's previous transit bus, known simply as the GM "Old Look". The TDH-5301 commonly known by the nickname "Fishbowl" (for its original six-piece rounded windshield) or "New Look" was produced until 1977 in the U.S., and until 1985 in Canada. More than 44,000 New Look buses were built. Its high production figures and long service career made it an iconic North American transit bus.
The 1964 New York World's Fair hosted 37 nations, all 50 U.S. States and dozens of America's leading businesses in 140 hi-tech pavilions. More than 51 million visitors descended on Flushing Meadows, Queens to witness the world's vision for the future and they left stunned by the possibilities! This Greyhound GM New Look Fishbowl bus was as futuristic as the fair itself shuttling fairgoers to and from the 645 acre park.
