On September 13, 2016, American Airlines took delivery of its first Boeing 787-9, its latest next generation widebody aircraft. The stretched variation of Boeing 787 Dreamliner features new premium economy class, consisting of 21 seats in a two-three-two configuration. This model, bearing registration number N820AL and fleet number 8LA, represents the very first 787-9 delivered to the airline.
